Hi all,

The latest update to Dreamweaver is now live and can be installed from your Creative Cloud desktop application.

The May 2018 release in Dreamweaver enables enterprise customers to have seamless connection to servers using SFTP.

See the release notes here: Release notes for the 2018 and 2017 releases of Dreamweaver

Note:

The keychain issue will occur for users migrating from 18.0 to 18.2. The issue has been addressed for users moving from 18.1 to 18.2

Thanks,

That's it?  A fix for FTP issues?  What about the many things pointed out on the bugs/ideas forum?  What about being sent to the top of the page after a global search and replace?  What about the super annoying tabbing order issue with multiple documents?  What about the intermittent issue of not selecting the first letter of a variable when you double-click?  What about dragging and dropping code not working reliably?  The list goes on and on (Adobe Dreamweaver: Bugs: Hot (845 ideas) – Adobe Dreamweaver CC: Feature Ideas ).

Format Source Code is still broken - its been broken for ages and never been right since the brackets integration. It breaks PHP code sometimes by adds spaces and/or line breaks where there shoupdn't be any. I posted on uservoice ages ago, the bug was acknowledge but never fixed.

My computer was recently updated at work and I am now on Dreamweaver 18.2.

I have been using Dreamweaver for many years and I have to say this version is horrible.

So unresponsive when trying to edit with split screen of code and design. It is sending me crazy.

Our website is in Drupal and I have always preferred to edit the pages in Dreamweaver then paste the code back into Drupal CMS,

I dislike the Insert toolbar being on the right hand side but can't work out how to get it to go back down the bottom as in previous versions.

Insert hyperlink  - I gave up on and just put the code in manually.

Shift + Enter on the Design screen for a single line break mostly doesn't want to work.

The design side looks completely bland, no nice dashed borders to show where the divs are like it did in the previous version.

Honest does anyone find this version usable?

I just discovered what most of my issues were from - it was in Live view - which meant for some reason it wasn't updating,

Up the top menu where it says Code | Split  | Live or Design  make sure it has design selected if you don't want the same frustration I have had all day.

Now does anyone know how to get the Insert toolbar to be on the bottom instead of the right hand side. Although I guess I can get used to that.

Not sure what the insert toolbar is that you are referring to, but this may help you Overview of the Dreamweaver workspace

I think you mean the insert panel, it can be dragged  to the top or bottom and it will 'dock' in position. Is that what you mean?

Yes I can move it to the bottom but it is still vertical - in previous versions there was the html Insert toolbar horizontally across the bottom.

Thanks all I think I found what I was looking for it is called Properties Inspector in this latest version.

Property inspector overview

The Property Inspector (Window > Properties) lets you examine and edit the most common properties for the currently selected page element, such as text or an inserted object.

The contents of the Property Inspector vary depending on the element selected. For example, if you select an image on your page, the Property Inspector changes to show properties for the image (such as the file path to the image, the width and height of the image, the border around the image, if any, and so on).

The Properties Inspector (Ctrl+F3) is nothing new.   My workspace places it at the bottom.

Yes that is what I was used to. But this new version that was installed by my IT Team just before christmas didn't have that, instead there were lots of panels on the right hand side including one called Insert. I have found it and it is currently floating on the bottom haven't worked out how to fix it there as of yet.

Try a different workspace or customize one of your own by dragging and docking panels & panel groups where desired.
