Dreamweaver CC 2017 & The Brackets Bandwagon

Sorry I don't get the Brackets bandwagon, the code completion is alien compared to the original DW code view, its buggy, customisation of code coloring is really hampered and we're all having to waste our time learning how to create custom themes for Brackets now to get back to somewhere near where we were before with this buggy piece of beta crap Adobe rolled out.

I don't get what major features does Brackets have over the alternative and presumably easier option of tweaking the original Dreamweaver code view?

I've spent years using Dreamweaver about 80% - 90%  of the time in code view, in general code completion was good and it performed well, yes it lacked some features but now we've jumped head first into a complete change.

Are the people that have been crying out for brackets integration real, serious Dreamweaver users or just Brackets users who fancy messing about with Dreamweaver for a week or two?

  1. The brackets integration is buggy as well btw and has some performance issues, for example when I switched DW 2017 on earlier it took about 30 seconds to render code view, god knows whats going on there, and on a decent spec PC btw.

  2. The code completion at times is not as snappy as it should be & occasionally seemed to cause some performance issues, prefer the old version by a million miles.

  3. To someone who used Dreamweaver code view for years, some of the code completion and how brackets behaves is completely alien and it seems like a totally pointless waste of development time, it causes a heap of frustration and wasted time trying to either fix or learn pointless changes that yield no advantage when we're all trying to run businesses and look after our clients.

  4. To me the Brackets is about keeping up appearances in the coding community with what's in vogue, to me when you strip it back to the nuts and bolts and the inconvenience I just don't get it at all, could have tweaked and added the missing featured to the original code view  !!

I haven't looked at the LESS/SASS integration yet but I hope the developers made a better job of that !!
