Dreamweaver CC freezes and gets super slow

Why dreamweaver gets super slow and freezes everything on screen? even for a single letter change I have to wait for 20-30 secs till I can enter next letter.

There could be a number of issues with DW, your code, or conflicts on your machine that could cause lagging like you describe. It's hard to say what it could be without a bit more info...

What version of DW?
What operating system?
How much RAM do you have?
Any live backup software running on your system?
Is this happening with every page, and every site, even new blank documents?

DW version - 20.1
OS - 64-bit windows (Surface)
Processor - i7-6600 2.81 GHz
Ram - 16 GB
Live backup - No
Happening on all pages - Yes, even outside DW, screen gets freeze. But it only happens when try to edit/update/change any thing in DW.

If it has worked normally in the past, Restoring Preferences will usually do the trick...

If this version has never worked correctly for you, reinstallation using Adobe's Cleaner Tool may do the trick...

Restoring preferences worked somewhat for me. Does not freezes that often but still can get away with this.

• Does your local site folder reside on your primary hard drive and not a networked or cloud drive?
• Do you save your work often?
• Do you have energy saving Sleep Mode disabled?
• Have you disabled all non-essential background processes?
• Which anti-virus and firewall do you use?

• Yes, on primary hard drive - not on cloud for sure
• Yes, working on SASS so need to save on every change before compiling
• Yes, diabled
• Yes all non-essential are diabled
• That's the worry, I doubt the firewall a big time. I have excluded DW from it.

I'll be following any advice you're given. I have a similar issue with a DW2020 install which now has the old PHP functions restored (yes!) but it starts ok and within minutes starts lagging until it's unusable, closing and reopening get things back to normal.

Hope any issues get solved, have to say I installed a beta version so it might just be that hopefully.

2. Does slowness occur in all files in all sites or just certain ones?

3. In my experience with .php files, Design View works much faster than Live view, even when you're just working with code.
