Dreamweaver CC synchronization is impossibly slow

I maintain 10 WordPress sites, all remotely hosted. I've used DW for years, and finally bit the bullet and moved to DW CC (on my Mac).

Synchronization (of each entire site, getting all new files and deleting local files not on the host) has become UNUSABLY slow (think hours till DW comes back and gives me a list of files to be imported/deleted). It's gotten to the point where I've been touching only individual folders (and even then, it's impossibly slow).

What gives? I've seen reports of this for years in the DW forums, and while I've tolerated the slowness, under DW CC it's unusable.

yes, I had the same context of use and I made the same observation.... so I thought it was only a question of server, or FTP... I posted and opened various bugs... nothing did there

it is very difficult to work in production in such a context... CC2017 reports the same problems, so I reinstalled DW CS6... and now it works.

on my side I am under Windows 10

Unfortunately I agree with you as well that the sync process in DW is not the quickest. Personally I use a separate FTP client like Transmit and for Wordpress sites, with rules setup so that I don't overwrite configuration folders to allow for testing without having to alter configuration all the time.

like you I often use third party tools on the periphery of Dreamweaver to fill its gaps or weaknesses.

my only criticism of this practice is that there is no way to link and exchange between these third party applications and the host application.

for example in the past, it was possible to define an external text editor and Dreamweaver can either launch the internal code editor or the external one, depending on our needs.

today if we use FileZilla and synchronize the files, Dreamweaver is not informed about it and does not take it into account...

this is just one example among many....
