I'm trying to open Dreamweaver 2017 (latest version) on my iMac, running Sierra 10.12.4 (latest OS version). On launch, Dreamweaver will start to bounce in the dock, and then quit. One out of four times, I get an Apple message that just says my software has quit, but no error code.
After working with Adobe support in chat sessions, including where they took over my machine, we discovered this only happens under my main user account, and they suggested I contact Apple because "something is wrong with my user account." We tried various basic things including logging in and out of my Adobe account, uninstalling Dreamweaver and downloading again, etc. Working under the new user is a workaround, but a very inconvenient one.
Apple, after many patient hours themselves in chat, suggested that… the problem is with Dreamweaver. They offered a fairly nuclear solution for creating a new user account with all my stuff — transferring my 870GB of data to an external drive, trashing my main user and copying all my data back to the new user.
Has anyone else had this problem or has a suggestion I haven't tried? Thanks in advance for your brilliance.
Hi,
Thank you so much for the logs. This has been a great help. We will be fixing the issue soon.

Can't do that without being able to launch the software.

If your Mac user account is corrupted, then it's corrupted. Creating a new Mac user ID with Admin permissions will usually solve that problem.
Illegal characters in the computer's volume name can also be a problem.
Funny how Apple always blames Adobe .

If that's the case, I will have to follow Apple's advice and move all my files to an external drive and then back in when I do the new user. I'll probably have to set up all my shortcuts, passwords, etc. in all my everyday software. Unless there's something simpler you can recommend. Thanks.

Hi,
You can attach the crash logs here itself, we will pick up from here and convey our findings. Also, we need to know the build number that you are using?

Sorry, Niharika, I see the image attachment, video attachment, and web link buttons, but not a file attachment button.
My Dreamweaver version is 17.1.0.9583. Is that the same as the "build number?"

Hi,
Can you see an option of "Use Advanced editor" at top right corner, that contains an option to attach files.
Ya, thanks 9583 is the build number.

This is frustrating. No, these are all the options that "Advanced editing" offers. Again, image, link, video and more code string options in the pop-up. Hmm. Okay. I'm going zip them and give you a link from my Dropbox. Dropbox - logs for adobe.zip

Hi,
Thanks for sharing the logs, we will get back to you with our findings.
Although, since they are just installer logs, we need to be sure if the crash is happening because of the installer or the application itself. So, we would need Dw crash logs as well. This is how you can send us Dw application crash log-
1. When the app crashes, wait for some seconds for the Crash Reporter to appear.
2. When the dialog "Adobe Dreamweaver quit unexpectedly" appears, choose "Report..."
3. Copy the details of that crash thread and paste it into the text doc
Please share that text doc with us.

Hi,
We investigated the logs shared by you with our team, but we couldn't see any errors. So, we will need some more favors from you. One request I have already mentioned in the post above about how to get app crash logs.
For the installer logs, please use the Log Collector tool from this link- Log Collector Tool and share the logs generated via this tool with us.
Looking forward to your support.
