Dreamweaver is unbelievably slow (build 21.3)

New Here ,
Feb 03, 2023 Feb 03, 2023

After updating from DW 20, this new build is just sooooo slow.

Everything I do takes between 5 and 15 seconds to complete.

Often times when I open a new file, switch tabs, or save a file, it takes more than 1 minute.

I have tried the solutions in this thread and they didn't work.

I do NOT have cache enabled and I have deleted the REGEDIT temp file list folder.

There are no longer any options to change memory preferences and I wonder if that's the problem. Why would Adobe remove this?

I have to use this app for work, but I'm about a week away from quitting and downloading Sublime text or something.

System specs:

Windows 11

32GB Ram

11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-11850H @ 2.50GHz 2.50 GHz

Intel UHD graphics card

NVIDIA RTX A3000 Laptop GPU

This is a brand new laptop and everything is faster except for Adobe products.

I have similar issues with Photoshop, and Premiere Pro, and After Effects.

But I primarily use Dreamweaver.

1. Restart computer.

2. Define your local site folder.  Site > New Site...  Designate a local site folder that resides on your computer's primary hard drive; not networked, external or cloud drives.

3. Disable Site Caching.  In Manage Sites > Site name > Advanced Settings > Local Info...

Hope that helps.

Hi Nancy,

Thanks for tryoing but that didn't solve anything. The problem isn't the sites. The problem is switching between any app and Dreamweaver (and to lesser extent PS, PP, and AE).
I literally typed all of this ^ out while waiting for DW to allow me to type in the code window.

None of this occured in DW 2020, but this build is killing me. Task manager shows that there are no bottle necks in GPU, or CPU, but there is only 500-700 mb of memory allocated to DW. Even though I could have space to add much more, the option to do so no longer exists.

The system requirements have changed. Ensure that your system meets/exceeds current GPU requirements particularly for graphics intensive apps like Photoshop, After Effects & Premiere Pro.  See links below.

- https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/system-requirements.html

Update graphics drivers directly from the card mfg's website.

Close all but essential apps and services to free up resources.

Regarding Dreamweaver, switch to DESIGN from the Document Toolbar (Ctrl + Shift + F11).  For code editing, it's much faster than LIVE edit mode.

Finally, Save often Ctrl + S.

Hi Nancy,

Thanks again for the input. Unfortunately, my laptop far exceeds the minimum requirement for Dreamweaver and PS and might be right at the line for AE.
Here is the screen shot from PS GPU compatibility:

PS-GPU.png

I never had this problem before on DW 2020 on a lesser laptop. Now that I have an updated laptop and updated Adobe programs, I'm getting frozen apps while trying to click on anything. I tried using your "DESIGN" mode and closing all the apps outside of DW, and it's still the same result.
Normally I don't even try to use live or Design mode. Just straight code, and it's bogged down.

All drivers have been updated because that's the first thing I'm asked to do every time there's an issue and people don't know how to respond. So that's not the problem as well.

I think I'm just going to have to give up on DW at this point.

Malwarebytes is known to cause problems, especially if it's scanning files in REAL TIME.

I doubt that the amount of memory is the problem. Have a look at what Outlook is doing

I think that another program is stopping Dreamweaver from working properly.

Wappler is the DMXzone-made Dreamweaver replacement and includes the best of their powerful extensions, as well as much more!
