As web-design-tool DW was dead since (2018) 2020 ... but now.
So Adobe has NO web-design-solution. Thats realy poor.
AFAIK, Dreamweaver is compatible with the latest version of Sonoma, since Apple fixed the right-click problem. I'm not a Mac user so I can't speak with any authority about Dreamweaver's compatibility with M2 machines. It does work on current Windows PCs.

It's amazing how great it is, full of extensions https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/VSCode, excellent documentation https://code.visualstudio.com/docs, a totally open API https://code.visualstudio.com/api, a real-time control palette, the terminal that's part of the interface and, icing on the cake, it's totally free, all reasons that make it worth a try!

@L e n aWholly agree: Visual Studio Code is brilliant. No wonder that the majority of developers choose VSC for their work.
Dreamweaver isn't even on the same page (literally):
PS @Michael Tupy Adobe never has been able to keep up with the fast evolving and ever changing tool and technology chains in development and UX design. It is what it is.
PS2 a really nice combo with Visual Studio Code is Pinegrow: a super-charged visual editor view that works in tandem and in real-time with VCS via a simple plugin.

To add to @rayek.elfin's reply, the same Monaco Editor that is used for Visual Studio Code is already part of Wappler. No plugin required.

VSC great; but also consider tools from JetBrains.
WebStorm is great.
There is IntelliJ Ultimate which is probably too much for many; but it has a serious set of tools
