DW 21.0, Build #15392 - Synced Custom Workspaces are NOT importing from the Cloud

Overall, importing synced settings from the cloud is kludgy at best.  Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.  I had to perform the steps in the Preferences Panel 3 times before it worked.  And custom workspaces never imported.

I submitted a bug report below:

https://dreamweaver.uservoice.com/forums/382851-adobe-dreamweaver-bugs/suggestions/41748331-dw-21-0-...

My workaround on Win10 (v 2004) is to manually copy workspace files from old version to new version.

C:\Users [name] > AppData > Roaming > Adobe > Dreamweaver [old ver] > [language] > Configuration > Workspaces.

Hi Nancy,

Thanks for writing to us. Can you please confirm if you had synced custom workspace settings successfully to cloud with Dw 20.2 before trying to download the settings in 21.0.

You can also try to Import settings from previous Dw versions by following below steps:

1. Open Preferences dialog --> Sync Settings category
2. Check Import Sync Settings checkbox
3. Restart Dw
4. Click on Apply in Sync toast pop-up (wheel icon on top-right of Dw)

Also, custom workspaces and keyboard shortcuts will sync only with same OS version and not cross-platform (Mac-Win). Hence please confirm if you had successfully synced the settings on the same OS platform with earlier Dw version.

Nayan

Thanks Nancy for sharing additional info. Can you please try clicking on 'Apply Updates' button in Dw 20.1 and try importing in Dw 21.0. Also for confirmation, can you please try creating a new custom workspace and sync to cloud in Dw 20.1 and confirm if importing the settings Dw 21.0 works.

Also, can you please spare some time for a remote connect session so that we can debug the issue further and try fixing the issue with importing settings on your machine.

Regards,

Nayan

OK Nayan,

I did a little more sleuthing.

#1 I opened Creative Cloud desktop app to ensure it's running and synced to the cloud.

#2 In Dw 20.1, I created a new keyboard shortcut (Ctrl+Shift+Q for File > SaveAll).  I also created a new custom Workspace (myTest) and saved it.  From Preferences, I synced settings to the cloud, waited a bit and then closed Preferences and DW 20.1

#3 I opened 21.0, Preferences panel to import settings from the cloud. The Preferences panel closed immediately stating there was a conflict.  To resolve conflict, I selected import from cloud but nothing happened.  3rd time it did something.  The apply button turned blue so I hit it and waited a bit more before closing Preferences and DW 21.0.

#4 Upon reopening 21.0, none of my settings changed. So I attempted it again but no luck.

My workaround is to manually move Workspace files from old version to new version's Configuration folder. But I can't find keyboard shortcuts.  It looks like they should be in Menus > Custom Sets but I see nothing in either file containing my new shortcut.

A remote session is not a good idea right now because our power is intermittent due to high winds and fires in our region.  I can't predict when the next power outage will occur or for how long.

Thanks Nancy for trying the workflow. Hope you are doing well and staying safe due to the current climatic situation in your region.

We are unable to recreate the issue internally on our windows machine with enabling automatic sync as well from Dw 20.1. Hence please let us know once it is feasible for you for a short remote connect session so that we can debug the issue and try fixing the sync settings functionality on your machine.

Have a pleasant day !

Nayan
