DW 21.0 view splitting

with the update to 21.0 all my DW settings, workspaces and site defs had disappeared. No problem so far, except when opening a file in dw, I had the view splitted horizontally (Code and  Entwurf).
Now I have to set such for each and every file I open in DW, I can't find a setting and it is driving me mad.

The setting is under View > Split...

If DW isn't remembering the setting you have chosen there, you will need to restore your preferences file by following the instructions here: https://helpx.adobe.com/dreamweaver/kb/restore-preferences-dreamweaver.html

If the settings are not holding and you need to change them every time you may need to re-create the site configuration folder as there may be an issue.

thanks Jon and Ben for the recreation solution.

my problem indeed seems to have to do with th fact that we updated dreamweaver from something 2017 to the most actual version, but without using the adobe cloud. So in a not always logical way some of my settings did, most (especially the complete site settings) did not appear after the update.
Strange but did happen.
So I tried a little bit to keep my personal split-view settings, and one has to use the menu / function window > workspace layout > save state
(sorry, have dw in German only)
