DW CS6 runs slowly only with large files

I'm following a recommendation from @AdobeCare to post here re: a problem I'm experiencing using DW CS6.  I've found that when I work on a site with large files (i.e. > 20k lines) DW performance plunges.  Every action (open file, search, switch tabs, etc.) takes at least seconds to complete. 

I tried all of the fixes I could find for the slow performance (resolveremoteurltoip = false, exclude from antivirus scan, disable code hints, delete wincache).  None solved the problem.  When I work on any site with smaller files, DW performs fine.   When I return to the site with the large files, it goes back to taking 10+ seconds for every action.

I'm currently using Eclipse to work on the site with the large file.  It very occasionally pauses for  a couple of seconds but really performs just fine.

Any suggestions for solving the issue DWCS6 is having with large files are appreciated.

Can you try the solutions mentioned in Questions about Dreamweaver CS6 performance? See these posts first. and let us know if they helped?

We have heard of performance issues with large files in DW CS6, but slowness could also be caused because of issues with your code, or the way you are accessing files (files accessed from a remote drive slow down DW)

Thank you for the reply.  I am unable to complete the first fix: installing the 12.1 update.  I followed instructions, de-activating and stepping through the licensing process.  It signed me in w/my Adobe ID but then still prompted me to enter my license key.  I did so.  The Updates options shows my version as up-to-date, providing no update option.  However, my version is 12.0 build 5861.  Please advise.

Dreamweaver CS6 12.1 is not available for perpetual license (disk/one time download) DW CS6 users, it is an update for the Cloud version of CS6.

CS6 Perpetual topped out at 12.0.3.

If you have a Mac, the .3 gets truncated when you look at the version number under Help > About Dreamweaver. You would be able to browse to the application file to Get Info on it and see that you have 12.0.3 installed.
