DW Real Time Preview not working again!

I had to restore Preferences 5 days ago when Real Time Preview stopped displaying web pages in the browser. This solved the problem at the time. However, Real Time Preview stopped working again, 5 days later. Once again, I have restored Preferences, restarted the PC, and managed to get RTP working again.

This procedure is wasting a great deal of time. How long will it be before these bugs in Dreamweaver 2017 CC will be resolved? I can't continue working indefinitely with an unreliable and unstable product.

As this is a user-to-user forum, we cannot answer your question.

What I do know is that I do not have that problem so I doubt that it has anything to do with Dreamweaver, most certainly not a bug. Please have a look at DIY troubleshooting kit for Dreamweaver

Thanks, Ben. This problem only started happening after the latest DW update was installed. Before the update, I never had this problem with Real Time Preview - nor did I ever have a problem with live browser previews in other similar products, such as Coffee Cup or MS Expression Web. DW coding is certainly suspect, and I see there have been a number of complaints on the forums about bugs in DW 2017 CC. However, I'll have a look through the Kit.

Thanks, Ben. I'll do that if it happens again. I like DW, and will continue using it provided problems like this can be resolved by the software programmers.

  1. Right-Click on an open document tab or a file in your Files Panel.
  2. Select Open in Browser.

This will give you the old Preview in Browser option.    If you're still encountering problems, go to Window > Results > Validation & check your code for errors.

Hi Nancy,

Many thanks. The Real Time Preview has failed yet again today (now, the 3rd time in 6 days). However, I managed to open the old Preview in Browser as you suggested. This is working OK at the moment, so I'll continue to use the old Preview until this issue can be resolved. There's no obvious errors in my page code; and even with some errors present, I was able to use Browser previews without any failures for many years when working with Coffee Cup and MS Expression Web. As I said earlier, the problem with DW RTP didn't begin until after the latest DW update had been installed. I had been using DW RTP many times before that without any failures.

Thanks very much for your help. I'll just use the old Preview method for the time being.
