Extracting Thumb nails from uploaded video file and converting format in php

I am trying to extract thumb nails from uploaded video using php and convert the uploaded video to a format playable in flash player

can any one help. Most of the info on the web related to the subject is blurred.

Just wanted to say I found some useful information with regards to this matter. The first is ffmpeg is a library that can make thumbnails from uploaded video and convert video to flv . I have been able to make an thumb nail from upload video but finding it hard to convert uploaded video to flv. So if any one can still help please do so.
