Feature Request: enhanced Frames handling in DW9

Community Beginner ,
Dec 28, 2006 Dec 28, 2006
Handling of frames in DW8 is really tricky. Do it better in DW9 please.
(Frames are not "out" they are accepted by search engines and cool to use. Also very userfriendly if set up right.)

I frames can inserted in the code but are displayed poorly in the design view. Also add some properties to handle iframes.

As before, please address all feature requests directly to the
Dreamweaver team using the wishform:

Handling frames is tricky. Period.

Cool to use? Huh?

The effort to set up frames correctly for full accessible and usable web
sites tends to outweigh all the other better solutions.

They were never "in".

The frames we have in current HTML simply can't be set up right to be
userfriendly. They'll always cause problems that could be easily avoided
by not using frames at all. They are still as evil as they were 10 years
ago and only useful in very rare cases.

Uhhh.
I wanted to help DW to get better, not be commented on frames here. Don't shout at me.
Frames can be really cool, if you use and programm them proper. ( see Mono-Ski.org as an example. All single frames including the Navigation can directly bookmarked. Search engines have rated this site very high. German Google: 3rd place..... and even the discussion Group is scanned by Google.)
Or visit
So come on, do your Job, learn to programm them in a right way and you will love them. TVTV.de a German online TV programm. It uses frames and is No. 1 in Germany - so what? Uncool?

Don't talk about acessibility if you don't know ahat you are talking about. Blind people on the net? Thats only 2% of acessibility!

P.S. I think I am on the wrong place here.

Micha wasn't shouting at you.

Frames won't make DW better, unfortunately. So many users use frames for all
the wrong reasons that making it 'easier' to use frames in DW is more of a
detriment than a help.

I can't bookmark more than one page on your site.

I can't cut and paste a specific URL to a page on your site to send to a
friend.

People without javascript (read many screen readers) won't see the
navigation at all if they land on an internal page (making the site
inaccessible).

Sorry, but this is an example of when NOT to use frames. There's no need for
frames on this site.

Come on, do your Job, learn how to program the better alternatives to frames
and you will never look back. ;o)

You clearly don't know much about accessibility.

> P.S. I think I am on the wrong place here.

Yes. This is user-to-user forums. Adobe does not read these.

Also, we all hate frames. ;o)

They can't. The address bar always only shows the above address, and
bookmarking a single frame is pointless, as I lose the navigation.

Oh, wait - there's a JS to "fix" it? That's just a wheelchair to make a
crippled website move.

> So come on, do your Job, learn to programm them in a right way

I _know_ how to do my job. And BTW: HTML is not a programming language.

>and you will
>love them

Definitely not. All their immanent problems are reason enough for me to
not even consider them for a new WWW project. There's _always_ a better
way. Exceptions may be technical documentations like a API reference.

Says who? Ever thought about why the real "big players" in the world
don't use frames?

>so what? Uncool?

Yep. Uncool and inaccessible. Could have been done better.

You are the guy who obviously doesn't know what he's talking about. May
I suggest to get some good books about usable and accessible webdesign
and why even 2% can be really important for a company?
