Can we assume you're using Dreamweaver to build your website?

A DW Template is all you need.  However, nesting Templates is never a good idea.  Besides, nesting isn't necessary for what you want.   See help article below on using DW Templates.

https://helpx.adobe.com/dreamweaver/using/dreamweaver-templates.html

That said, recipe sites & food blogs typically get very large very fast.  Templates are fine for small sites but beyond 50 pages, you need a dynamic solution with content stored and categorized in a searchable database.  Otherwise, the static site becomes too huge to manage and your audience gets frustrated because they can't find what they want.   WorPress might be a better solution in the long run.

It makes the most sense to put your recipes in a database that can be searched and cross referenced.  Then use server-side or client-side scripts to query data and populate a detail page with content.  With sufficient coding skills or commercial extensions, you can do this in Dreeamweaver.

  1. Code manually in PDO or MySQLi (improved).
    https://www.w3schools.com/php/php_mysql_connect.asp

  2. Buy 3rd party extensions from WebAssist or DMX Zone.

  3. Or develop your web apps visually with Wappler.

Well as this is a part time college course and I'm a chef the rest of the time I think wordpress would be better for me. I have done a site for a friend on wordpress and I really enjoyed it. I'm just trying to make a career at 44 and thought web design would be good
