I can't get DWCS4 to connect to my remote server...need help

Hello All,

I switched hosting companies and even though I have added the correct information in Site Manager for uploading files to the server through DWCS4, I am having problems.

Specifically:

I have a domain, and inside that folder is a subdomain folder. Interestingly, I can upload through DWCS4 to the subdomain, but NOT the primary domain.

The settings are identical, yet I can put files on the subdomain but not on the primary domain.

Any thoughts?

All input is warmly and greatfully appreciated.

Sincerely,

wordman

Sounds like DNS issue.

open your command prompt from the accessories, and enter these (change yourdomain.com and sub.yourdomain.com with your values):

ping yourdomain.com
ping sub.yourdomain.com

check if the IP addresses are different on both results.

Burak,

Thank you for the suggestion. However, I have entered the same IP in the Site Manager for both the primary and sub domains, pinging verifies that.

Still no luck.

Sincerely,

wordman

Are you getting any errors from the site manager when you try to connect the primary domain?

Burak,

No, the status window in DW briefly flashes onthe screen then goes away. No error messages in DW or anywhere else.

Thanks!

Did you test the connection in site manager (there is a test button), it will display a message either connection is succeeded or failed, and briefly explains the reason of the failure (i.e. FTP credentials are wrong etc.)

Burak,

My apologies, I didn't see the last email from the forums indicating your last post.

Yes, I get a 'Dreamweaver connected successfully" message when I test the connection. I suppose I'll ring my host to see what they have to suggest.

Thanks!

Sincerely,

wordman
