I am trying to put up a Website on Hostinger. I just could not do it. Turns out that my router is putting up a fire wall. To get this fire wall down I have to jump though all kinds of hoops and I rather not. The gist of my post is this: are there some internet providers or routers that are more conducive to Web Construction?
Hello Ben and Nancy.
My iMac is too clumersum to move it around. So I bought the cable and did the connection thing and what do you know?! . . . it still didn't work.
At this point of my desperation I was looking for someone to blame and I choose Dreamweaver itself. So I downloaded Filezilla and tried that app. Turns out the fault was mine. (remember I'm new to this). I was imbedding the index file into a folder called images and then uploading that into the public_html folder. I don't know where

You'll likely have the same problems no matter which web host you use. The problem is on your end, not the server's.
Go into your Firewall settings and whitelist your web server's IP address.
Who is your ISP?

ISP service varies by area.
In my area, we have a choice of broadband from Spectrum (cable, 1000 mbps), Easy Internet Now (Fiber, 5000 mpbps), Frontier (fiber, 5000 mbps) or Direct TV (dish). Other parts of my city have access to other ISPs.

Thank you Nancy for your helpful reply.
And you are correct, there is a fire wall in my router that is the cause of my problem. My computer is in one end of my house and the cable modem is in a closet located in the other end. Rather than bringing my desktop computer to that closet I bought a long ethernet cable and I will wire my computer directly to the cable modem bypassing the firewall endowed router. And then I will be able to download all my html files to Hostinger without any problems. That should work, don't you think?

I don't see why it won't work. Fingers crossed.
Post back with your results.

Before you go out and buy a cable the length of your house, why don't you move closer to the modem and plug it in with a shorter cable you might already own. Also, there is no guarantee this will work as your modem is also a router, even if it does not have wifi capabilities as you are suggesting. So it is possible it is the modem's firewall blocking your connection and not the separate wifi only router most likely setup in a bridge mode to just distribute the connection.
If you find that it is the modem firewall blocking the connection you should be able to call your ISP to get help on where to open up the router to allow additional activities.

So the mystery is solved and I'm the culpret. Thanks to the both of you for your help.

Glad you got everything sorted and it wasn't a costly equipment problem. 🙂
