menu background image IE problem

I have created background images for my horizontal spry menu items, using the tutorial on the adobe website. Works fine in Safari, Firefox and Opera but, guess what, in IE the background images do not appear, and the menu defaults to the standard CSS styles of the webpage (fonts and such). Only the first menu item (without drop down menu) appears as it should. Any ideas (i have searched the fora for an answer but haven't found any yet).

Thanks

Turns out the solution to my problem was easy. In the css near the bottom there's a fix for IE bugs. In that fix there's a background-color defined. I changed that to contain my background-image, et voilá...

Marten, Thanks for the suggestion. It helps but doesn't quite solve the problem. I tried both removing the
background: #FFF;
and replacing it with a spacer.gif, Now the background of the left nav shows through properly, but on the submenu, it still has a white background and between the first and second menu choice it shows, in black, the word "False". Any further ideas? TIA!

This is something I have not encountered. The case may be that my background image of the menu as well as my menu items (except for 'focus' and such) is one and the same image. So 'ul.MenubarHorizontal a', 'ul.MenubarHorizontal ul' as well as the ie bugfix. Maybe it would help to add 'background-repeat: repeat-x;' to the bugfix?

Mind you, I did almost everything with a large amount of trial and error, and am far from a spry/ajax/css expert.
Good luck!

KK, I'm having the same exact problem. I see the word "False" behind both submenus on my vertical menu bar. If you hover over the arrow to open the submenu and hold "Ctrl" while enlarging your screen with your mouse wheel you'll see that it's actually a box behind the submenu that contains the word "False." I've taken a screen shot of it. Click here to view it. (Note: you have to be sure to keep the mouse pointer on the parent menu item as it's enlarging or you won't see it.) I changed a few of my submenu titles to see if it would remove "False," and it seemed to work, because now you can't see it in the submenu. But if I do the "Ctrl" mouse wheel thingy again it's still there--it's just behind the submenu.

Did you find a resolution to this? It's a real pain. Thanks.

I did find a solution, thanks to someone who posted here, but I'm afraid I don't have a clear recollection of what it was and I can't focus on remembering. I think it had to to with removing a line of code that was a hack for IE, but I can not remember any specifics. Sorry, my head is very fuzzy right now from other code issues. You can see where I have it working at www.savannahmedicalclinic.com.

Thanks anyway. Maybe that person will post the solution again. You do nice work, but it saddened me to see it was for a clinic where babies are killed.
