On my .php pages, I get this recurring message regarding the page having "processing directives." It offers a link to switch to Live View.
How can I find information about the importance and relevance of this message and how to prevent it from reoccurring since I do NOT use Design View?
Thank you.
Warren
Jon and Nancy:
That's disappointing to hear, Jon, that we Adobe subscribers have to be told the same thing, every time we open a .php file in Split View or every time we change from Code View to Split View. Do developers see a purpose in repetitively reminding us of the same thing, hundreds of time throughout a day's work? Can one of you pass along this predicament to the appropriate department?

You are in Design View according to your screen capture.
Click the X on the far right of the alert to dismiss it.

Hello, Ben and Jon:
The message appears only when viewing with Split View. When I switch to Code View, it disappears.
I know I can dismiss the message each time it appears. I want to prevent it from reoccurring as it does, every time I switch from Code to Split. . . unless the message has importance and relevance to me. I don't know that it has.
Assuming that I don't need to be advised of the processing directives available with Live View, how do I stop receiving these messages throughout the day?

I don't know of any way to turn those messages off.
Aside from staying in Live View, Code View or Split Code/Live, I think you're stuck with them.

Nancy: Ignoring a problem is sophomoric, especially when it can easily be corrected by revised programming. That doesn't work at all for me.
In my last 15 minutes of fooling with a variety of views, I believe that I've found a way to prevent those pestering messages from reoccurring repetitively. Try this.
• Click the drop-down arrow to the right of Design View.
• Change "Design" to "Live."
• Switch from "Code" to "Split" view as often as you like; the message will not appear.
Apparently, we must work in "Live" view so we can be spared seeing those messages. Alas, when using "Split" view while the "Live" option is selected, a lot of real estate is put into the "Live" portion of "Split" view, requiring additional scrolling. Nevertheless, I'll take that approach rather than ignore the pestering, reoccurring messages that don't come with an option to "No longer show these messages."

Design View is a relic from the old Macromedia days when everybody made websites with Tables. It worked fine back then but has not kept pace with modern CSS and HTML5. DW wanted to phase out Design View completely and replace it with Live View. But that has not happened yet. So it is what it is until something better comes along to replace it.

While working in Code/Live Split View it may benefit you to change from the horizontal split to a vertical split. Looks like you have the horizontal space for it.
Go to View > Split > Split Vertically and see if that doesn't work out a bit better for you. You won't need to do nearly as much vertical scrolling and you'll be able to see more of your design in the Live View pane.

Thanks for your suggestion, Jon. I've been using "horizontal" for more than ten years and am very comfortable working in that mode.
However, I'll try working in "vertical" mode for the remainder of the day to see if I'm ready to change.

Hi Warren,
I'm not going to pretend there is an easy way to change anything in Dw, but if you do wish to change anything then currently you only have two alternatives, (and users have complained about the ui messages for years, and nothing has changed).
You can file a feature request, (it is in the 'Help' menu).
You can ask Preran if he will recommend you to join the Dw pre-release.
No matter which you do, unless you can get the Dw team to agree with you nothing will happen.
Personally I think it is not worth doing either, and you must remember that many users do not want change.

Just ignore them. After a while, you won't notice them.
