Need to insert German characters regularly

In one of the earlier versions of DW, I was able to set-up a new tab in the toolbar at the top, to insert custom special characters from the toolbar, into my DW docs.

Somewhere I found instructions how to set this up, including making special button icons etc. Unfortnately Ihave no record of how it was done, and I have forgotten the process.

Is there an extension anywhere for the same purpose? I need to regularly insert German characters into documents.

warum eigentlich ? wenn du Text mit Umlauten etc in DW schreibst, werden diese ohnehin korrekterweise als z.B. ä (für ä) usw usw umkodiert

bis jetzt, wenn ich Dokumente aus Word mit Drag&Drop oder Copy & Paste verwendet habe, schaute alles OK aus, aber im Netz kam immer wieder die falscher Buchstaben.

Wird DW CS3 auch Word Inhalte usw. automatische umkodieren?

DW9 ist doch eigentlich CS3 😉 Ich habe ebenfalls die US-Version, habe aber noch keinen WORD-Inhalt importiert -- weiß also nicht, ob das funktioniert, aber was auf jeden Fall hinhauen wird, ist ein "Find & Replace" im "Source Code"
