New Computer. Sites Disappeared.

Hi
My old computer became unusable due to a hardware failure so I bought a new one and installed all my Adobe apps. I've just opened Dreamweaver and was expecting my Sites to load in automatically. I thought the site definitions were backed up remotely on my Adobe account. Does this feature exist or am I imagining it? If it does, how do I access/sync my site definitions?

TIA
Chris

I never use any of DW's auto-syncing features. When they first started appearing in the program, they were pretty flakey and I still don't trust them.

The most reliable way to get your sites back would be to...

1. Go to Site > New... and create a new site root folder on your new machine
2. Enter the FTP information for your server in the Servers section
3. Hit the Get button (down arrow icon in the Files window)
4. Click Yes to the prompt "get entire site?"

Assuming you previously synced your settings to the cloud, you can import them into DW from your Preferences panel.   See screenshot.  Changes appear the next time you restart Dreamweaver.

Thanks for the replies. I initially tried clicking the 'Sync settings Now' button which is in the top right of the main window. I thought that this would synch in my previously saved settings. I'm guessing this may have synched from my new DW install to the cloud and perhaps overwritten my backed up site definitions. If this is the case, I think a pop up warning should appear. Perhaps 'This will overwrite your saved settings in the cloud. Are you sure?'.

I'll be starting from square one again I think. Thanks anyway guys.

Cheers,
Chris

You won't know until you try it.

Syncing remote files with local files is NOT the same as syncing settings.

Hi Nancy

I didn't make my reply very clear. I did try your suggestion after initially trying the 'sync settings now button'. No sites were loaded from the cloud though. I remember being asked if I wanted to save my site definitions to my adobe account a while ago so I just assumed that it would work. I should have backed up manually I guess. Thanks again for your help though.

Regards,
Chris
