Operation timed out - FTP error

New Here ,
Jul 15, 2024 Jul 15, 2024

I am getting constant errors and cannot put files.

I receive the attached error every time I try to connect to FTP.

Nothing changed in my system, and I could successfully use FTP before.

I updated to v 21.4 on my Mac OS 13.6.7 (Ventura), and the problem remains.

I was able to connect via ftpweb.net without any timeout issues, so my credentials remain correct.

Thanks for your advice!

UPDATE - RESOLVED!

The issue lay with my new Internet Service Provider.

They reset my broadband (NBN) connection and got me to reset the modem/router.
That fixed it! Thanks folks.

If the FTP connection is timing out for being idle, that is something that would need to be adjusted on the host end. Are you getting the same error if you use a standalone FTP client?

It is timing out at every connection attempt. Not just when idle.

I was able to connect via ftpweb.net without any timeout issues.

Hi @jonbass,

Thanks for writing to us. Considering the FTP connection was successful before with Dw, can you please confirm if you had any network related changes e.g. broadband connection, port mapping, VPN connection etc after which the issue starts occuring in Dw. We can accordingly investigate and try resolving the issue on your machine.

Have a pleasant day!

Regards,

Nayan

As a test, can you remain connected to your remote server with a dedicated S/FTP client like FileZilla?

 - If not, you should contact your hosting provider. Something may have changed on their end.

 - If yes, you have a way to transfer files while you continue to troubleshoot in Dreamweaver.
