OT: Apache and Vista?

I have just upgraded a laptop to Vista Ultimate, and I am now unable to run
Apache 2.0 (it was running fine in XPPro before the upgrade). Any clues? I
suspect it may be the 'new' folder hierarchy, and have yet to rummage around
in httpd.conf - any ideas if that's where I should start?

The message is - "Apache cannot start" when I try to start it.

Hi Murray,

I am sorry that you have trouble with Apache2 problem around Vista Ultimate. I haven't upgraded mine on top of my Mac Pro as yet. I have been hesitated to do so for this reason, Murray.

I believe that it has a lot to do with httpd.conf file and how Vista sets up in its hierarchy as opposed to legacy version of your previous Window system architecture. I take that you are using previous version Win XP Pro, no? {On edit: I see that you use XPPro with Apache2 running.}

You might want to take a look at Apache 2 FAQ or support page for possible known problem that arise associated with Visita troubles? If not, you might want to address this with Apache 2 developers and see if they can help you with some possible tips.

Let me know how that works for you. Other than that, I am sorry I can't be of much further help. Let us know when you find a solution or some little trick.

Happy Holidays, Murray. Again, thanks for all you do, Murray, in the past and today!

Cheers, DWD

GOT IT.

It was, indeed, in the httpd.config file - and it was just the path to the
local root, and its variants, that was not consistent with the new folder
arrangements in Vista....

Works now!
