Hi!
I'm trying to update the copyright in a global footer template. I open the template, make the changes, try to save, get this screen, and click "Update":

And then I get this screen which I find completely confusing.

I have no idea what this means or what to do about it and I'm afraid I'll mess up the whole site if I make an error. Can anybody help me understand this and how to update the site without making a problem?
Thanks!! (I'm on Windows 7 and DW CS6.)
Can you upload your Template and a child page based on that Template to your remote server for us to look at? It's probably a minor structural defect in the code.

Just to be clear, a Dreamweaver Template is a .dtw file from which the rest of your site's pages are spawned. The Template's non-editable regions contain global content that gets populated to every child page based on that template. The template.dwt is always stored in your Site's Templates folder.
Is that the file you're are editing?

Sorry if I wasn't clear. Yes, that's the file I'm editing.

Have a look at this discussion What does THIS mean? Inconsistent region names?

Ben, I'm sorry. That didn't help; I can't make any sense of this. I don't know how DW defines "regions" or how to map it, or why this problem is occurring. The site has an uneditable header and footer with a body in the middle... quite simple, and I didn't make any significant changes when I tried to update the template. I don't understand what's causing a problem.
(Thanks Ben & Nancy for chiming in!! Nice to hear from you guys!)

Are you saying that something like a missing bracket or unbalanced divs or something could cause this?

Nancy my friend, you did it again. I did find a missing quote mark, fixed it and re-updated, and (it's the end of the week and I'm really tired) but it sure looks like it worked! My website has officially joined the rest of us in 2017.
Thanks again guys for chiming in and helping out...
