I exported all my site def's from old PC. Have them in a folder. In DW on my new machine, I can go into "Import" and select multiple sites but then it requires me to, one-by-one, repoint to each folder for each website. I have all my websites - with all the same names - under a "Webs" folder. And I probably have 1,000 websites that all have to be imported. Please tell me there is a way to just drop these all back in without having to renavigate to the Webs folder for every single site.
I tried going into the REGISTRY folder, which I located, but couldn't figure out how to insert / paste the .ste files all into the registry. Is this step only necessary to copy / export the existing definitions?
What can you suggest for people like me who need these site definitions easily moved / copied / synced at all times? It takes a massive amount of time to reconnect all of these.
Thanks in advance.

Is your new computer's website directory set-up exactly the same as your old PC? In other words, the same drive letter and folders as you had before?

Yes. Same structure, same folders.

And do you have one STE file that contains all your site definitions?

Yes, I exported / copied from previous computer's registry.

Oh, from the registry? I can honestly say I've never tried it that way. I always export my STE file from DW's Manage Sites panel. The resulting STE file imported all my site definitions over in one click.

Yes, I understand how to export site defs and import site defs. What I am trying to get someone to help me with is NOT having to do it one by one by one when I IMPORT. Export, yes. One click. That's easy. Importing requires me to open / point every single site to the same folder to "reconnect" it. Is there a way to make them all come back in in one click?

Something must be different about your computer then because I do not recall having to point each site to its respective folder. The import sites dialog took care of that. If it makes a difference, all my sites are on my primary C: drive; not an external or networked drive so the path to primary remains consistent across various computers. That might not be the case if I had used external drives where the path letter might change from D to E or F to G. In that case, manually designating the drive letter and folder might be required. I don't know.

Do you still have access to the old computer? If so, try Nancy's method. That's how I've done it in the past.
