Running Dreamweaver from a Jump Drive (USB)

New Here ,
Oct 26, 2006 Oct 26, 2006
Just wondering if it is possible to run studio 8 or portions of studio 8 from a USB Jump Drive? I guess it boils down to two questions. 1. Is it legal and 2. Can it be done?

Thanks for the help

yes and yes, but you will need to have it run from the same computer, you
cannot run it from a jump drive on multiple machines, as it would need to
use the registry. (ie, be installed on multiple machines, which would
violate your license)

The only way I could think of doing it was if you were on a network with a
roaming profile.

HTH,

Jon

should work like any drive on the machine. the main thing is that you don't
install it on more systems than your license provides, but the tech should
work ok of installing DW to both places. I've had DW installed on a USB
drive before (200GB), and had no problems with it. Moving it around?
Again, that can be tricky, would not recommend it, but may work with careful
observation.

OP - you would have to be very careful with extensions and what-not.
Anything you install on your thumb-drive is going to need registry
compliments on the PC.

I wouldn't really recommend doing this, unless you're just wanting to have
your DW installation on a thumb drive. Moving it around is goign to prove
to be quite the hassel. Since you're just storing program files, you're not
really saving anything that gets regularly updated. Having just the site
files works on your thumb drive would be a better solution, IMO.
