Everything was working good (Dreamweaver CC), but to 'simplify' things on my computer, I moved all of my Dreamweaver files and folders from an internal hard drive (E:) to an external, partitioned, hard drive (K:). Dreamweaver program files are still on C:. Dreamweaver loads fine. Files from the K drive load fine and I've had some success saving changes quickly. It seems, though, that after a while, or at least after saving a CSS file, that things slow down to a 'nearly stopped' pace; in fact, I get '... Not Responding' messages atop dialog boxes. Eventually, the K drive begins to spin and bing-bang the files are saved and all is back to normal until I try to save anything again.
Are there some settings I need to change in Dreamweaver, or in my individual site files to fix this? Are there files still on the C: drive that are causing issues? Any ideas out there?
Thanks.
Thanks for your input. While I don't think 'sleep' was the problem (because many other operations were lightning fast), long story short... I put the hard drive inside the box via PCIe/SATA connection, and everything is working fine. Curious?!

My guess is your external drive goes to sleep which causes problems.
Personally, I don't use DW with external drives. In my experience, it works much better with files on your primary hard drive, same as DW.
If you need backups (and everyone does), you can copy your site folder to your external drive separately. That's what I do.
