Does anyone know where I can get the Set Permissions extension for DW8 mac?
Unfortunately I installed the DX MX extension and it overwrote my DW8 one, and it doesn't allow me to set permissions of files that are on the server. I only see the MX extension online. Thanks

Hello DVmaster,

You don't need the extension for DW 8 ... its built in. Just go to the remote
view of the files and right click on the folder you want to set. You will
see a set permissions option.

I'm having the same problem. I installed the setpermissions command from jlondon not realising that DW8 provided this facility. Now if I select set permissions from a right click I get a message saying that the extension only works in 7.0.1 and above. Since I'm using DW8 this is a little annoying...

It seems as if this extension may have overwritten a file in DW8 that did the same thing so can anyone help with restoring the DW function? I can't remove tthe extension either as I can't find the damn thing - where is it? If I try to remove it with extension manager it keeps telling me the file is on use by another product. I've no idea which as I've shut down DW. Can anyone help?

The Set Permissions extension doesn't work with DW8 and DW8 is supposed to have this functionality built in. From what I can tell either the Mac version doesn't come with set permissions built in or installing the Set Permissions extension kills the functionality that is already there. Can anyone confirm this?

I have never seen Set Permissions in the contextual menu when right clicking a file in the FIle window on the remote server side until I installed Set Permissions 1.0. After that, like manxman, I get the message about it only working with 7.0.1 or above when I select Set Permissions form the contextual menu. I can use Extension Manager to remove the extension but then there is again no option to set permissions.

I've been going through this myself. I'm amazed at the depth of involvement one has to go to after spending hundreds of dollars on a program. You would think the worlds leading web design software would have this stuff built right in. I love spending days trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong, only to run into all this stuff. At least it wasn't me! If you install the set permissions extention and then remove it with the Macromedia extentions manager, it clobbers the program and renders the built in "set permissions" to disappear. You have to reinstall DreamWeaver. Nice, huh?

If you have a problem with an extension, you can always try deleteing your user Configuration folder. This is where all extensions and modifications are written too. You need to quit Dreamweaver, delete the folder, then lauch Dreamweaver and you should be good to go.

On Mac the folder you want is
Hard disk: Users: <username>: Library: Application Support: Macromedia: Dreamweaver 8: Configuration

Windows:
C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Macromedia\Dreamweaver 8\Configuration

Hope this help,
