site loses pass and user on testing server

remote and testing server work fine once I put the user and password in the testing server info BUT when I close dreamweaverCC and then reopen it, the remote info is correct but the testing server info is also filled in except username and password which now a blank.

I pressed save in the testing server settings and also pressed save before leaving site manager but once I close dreamweaverCC it will disappear again.

Any help would be appreciated.

Sometimes DW's site defs can get corrupt.

Usually, you can create a new site definition using the same local site folder. If it holds onto the info after restarting the program, you just delete the old site def from DW and continue using the new one.

That's where I would start first.

If it doesn't hold the info, deleting a corrupt program cache and/or restoring preferences would be the next step.

well I deleted the winfilecache and reapplied the prefs but it still does not keep the user and password. My testing server and remote are the same addess/ftp so maybe that is why?

That could be.

I've never used my remote servers as testing servers (aside from running a few form to email scripts).

Personally I use XAMPP on my local development machine as my testing server. I place all of my sites within sub folders in the htdocs (server root) folder so I can browse to them using the machine's IP/sitename (from other devices on the network) or localhost/sitename

It takes maybe 5-10 minutes to set up and every time I preview in browser, I'm seeing my site as it would function on a remote server with same settings, without opening it up to the entire world.

thanks, I will do the xamp thing, use to have it before  but dropped it when I went to a new computer. I'll give it a try

Same here.  I have a TEST folder on my remote server for debugging scripts.  But it's not separately defined.

A local testing server typically connects via Local/Network on your localhost.  So if your testing server is running, it should connect right away without passwords or usernames.

I had imported my site from dreamweaver 8 and it auto made the remote and testing server. On the old dw8 we used the remote and testing server as the same ftp site. Should I install a testing server like wamp? I thought dreamweaverCC setup a cisco type because when I check the page in a browser the address starts like a testing server with http://127.0.0.1/ something more?
