I am using a Spry+Ajax framework on one of my web pages, very similar to the one in the Adobe Video Workshop

Titled: "Using the Spry framework for Ajax"

If you notice the example in the beginning (or download the source files), you'll see that when an event is clicked on the in the left column, an image appears on the right with a description underneath. The image appears from out of frame at the top, and transitions down. I cannot find any reference as to how this transition effect is done.

How do I go about applying transitions such as this to my images (I am actually not too fond of that particular one, so a general understanding of how it works would be better)?

I'd suggest checking out the code for the page and seeing how they did that particular one, but you can also take a look at the Spry documentation for effects:
http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/spry/samples/
Click on the effects tab and check out the samples. Make sure to take a look at the last item listed, the Transitions Sample which shows the various supported effects along with the supported transitions:
http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/spry/samples/effects/transition_sample.html
The cool thing about the Transitions Sample is that is also gives you constructor code for the effect that you're testing.

Also, you should ask Spry related questions in the Spry forum:

Thank you, these examples are just what I was looking for. However, I cannot seem to find any clear-cut instructions as to how to implement these on my page. I have viewed the source, and see the Javascript, but don't know the appropriate steps to customize it to my page. I know very little about Javascript, so when I make changes, I'm not sure if I'm even on the right track when it doesn't work.

Are there any automated ways to apply this to a Spry Region? If not, are there "idiot-proof" instructions as to how to apply it to my own page? Any help in this area would be appreciated.

Note about using the Spry forum in the future noted.

Wow, it's all in "Behaviors." Answered my own question. Thanks again.
