the extension package is invalid

The extension package is invalid. The extension will not be installed.

When attempting to download and install extensions from the Dreamweaver extensions listed at the Adobe Dreamweaver Extension page I receive this message.

Any solution?

I am running Dreamweaver 8 on a PC. The OS is Vista. Don't tell me Vista is at fault. It will occasionally install an extension just fine. Most of the time it won't.

What extension? Have you checked the specs to see if your OS is supported?

Occasionally? I think you have your answer. Dreamweaver 8 came out a year
before Vista did. Many of the extensions on the Exchange may not even
support 8 .. many of them do. Make sure 8 is supported in the extensions
you are trying to install. As for Vista .. I don't have it so it's hard for
me to comment. I have seen enough however that I'll probably wait at least
a year and let them put out a better version before I take that plunge.

I've been running Dreamweaver 8 using Vista for almost 2 weeks now without a problem. This was the first. FYI, if found a work around for the problem. I download the extension and save it to the desktop, then run the install and it works fine every time.

I installed Vista as a clean install. It was a chore to install all my applications, some 40 of them but once installed they are all running fine including 5 or 6 legacy programs. Where the real chore rears it's head is when trying to run Vista on a machine that has several legacy pieces of hardware. Primarily video cards. I run dual monitors. One video card runs fine but had to replace the other.

Thanks for your reply.
