to incorporate a layer can you have tables first?

Guest

Hi I am wondering if i have mostly CSS but with a table inside that has a repeat region, can I have a link that will allow on hover show layer?
I have read that you need to convert tables to layers but is that really the case?
Thanks for reading.

Certainly.

Not only is it not the case, it's utter nonsense.

Cool thanks.
Last question, I have noticed if I have placed a layer it shows differently in Firefox to IE is there anyway to prevent this.
What I actually mean is it seems to be in a different placement to where I want it to be shown.
Thanks heaps

When you use layers (actually absolute positioned divs) properly, they will
be placed in the same location.

Are you a lawbreaker?

Wow thanks for the info - I must have missed reading inserting layers.
Yeh I broke the law - I used a percentage with a table inserted into the layer and well it would help if I gave it absolute positioning in my CSS.
Must change and see how I go -
I appreciate the help.

Good luck. I'm also worried about the layers IN a table - did you do that?
And did you see the page with text overlapping in layers?

Actually I can't get anything to work.
I think I will have to start from scratch again.
I was wanting to have my search results with the view to detail on hover instead to show a layer with that in there instead of leaving the page.

Yes I saw the text overlapping in layers.
Maybe the alternative would be to use David Powers Smartlink.
Thanks again.

How would smartlink help you in this situation?

Hi Thanks Murray
If I can't get the layer to work (which it didn't in Firefox) maybe the on hover show pop-up will do the trick, but once again Firefox did't allow David Powers Smartlink to show.
What I did is I have a css page and with the search results it is placed within a dynamic table. The link that I wanted the user to use was a Go To Detail page that when they want to view they can without leaving the page. You know for quick viewing rather than on click go to here then go back and forward.
Hope it makes sense.
So basically I have the dynamic repeat region and need to go from there.
Any suggestions are very welcome.
Thanks.

I would have to see your code. Can you post a link to the page, please?

Hi thanks Murray,
I don't actually have it online only on my local server till I get it all finished, which is pretty much now. I am just modifying and making improvements.
I can though send you an email with the the pages and database attached, but that would be a lot of bother on your end.
I will try again tonight. I might even change the css for that page so that it doesn't have a left box and a right box, just one content box.
Maybe that will allow me to apply the layer.
Thanks again.

Rename the file and upload it. If it's not linked anywhere, it will never
be found.

Hi Murray
I have got the layer to stay but its getting the link to detail to show the layer I am having trouble with.
With search results you get a list and to show the detail I was going to use a layer but the links are having trouble in passing the id in the url to the layer.
The layer is on the same page.
I know its a funny time of year and I would like any suggestions you have.
Thanks heaps.
