Yes, I know it's old software, but it's what I paid for and it works fine for me. I'm trying to install DW5 on new computer and my current serial number won't work. Then I downloaded the DW5 install file from my Adobe account and it still will not work. After contacting Adobe support, they told me to post here.

Suffice it to say that legacy 32-bit software cannot be installed on Catalina or Big Sur.

Sorry, CS5. I'm using W10. It is an upgrade from GoLive. Neither the DW code or GL code (when prompted to input that) would work. I can't access that system now, but I believe the error was "invalid code".

From whom did you buy the software? Unfortunately, there's not much you can do if your license was revoked. Before Creative Cloud, some bad actors played fast & loose with volume licensed copies and got into a whole heap of trouble for it.
Contact Adobe support and ask them to reset your activation count. That's literally all they can do to help though, as CS is discontinued & unsupported.

I bought it new from Adobe. This is a re-install so I know the serial number worked in the past.

Thank you, but none of those options worked. Guess I'm ready to move on.

I would agree with that assessment. You can either purchase a new subscription to use the newer version of DW (yearly or month to month), or look into alternatives. Are you looking for something more along the lines of a code editor or something visual? There are plenty of code editing options out there, and if you would prefer something more visual a CMS (hosted or installed yourself) may be a viable option to consider.

I'm leaning toward DW, but also researched VSCode and it looks promising. Do you have an opinion on it? I like the option of writing the code and see the results easily in a browser.

Serial numbers are 24 digits, no alpha, no dashes or spaces.
If your nunber contains letters, chances are it's not serial but a redemption code which must be redeemed for an actual serial number.

The serial number is correct as it is on the back of the original Adobe product I purchased from Adobe.

Mmmm I think you are limited on the number of uses? I think might have to deactivated it on one system to use it on another system but given the risk involved with loosing it all together I would ask about it before trying it

https://helpx.adobe.com/download-install/kb/activate-deactivate-products.html This link states Deactivation disconnects your app from your computer. You can then activate the apps on another computer or later reactivate them on the same computer.

Legacy Creative Suite software cannot be de-activated online. That only works with subscription-based Creative Cloud.
Did you enter the serial number correctly? For example 0 (zero) not O.

Yes, it was zeros. Thanks for letting me know about online deactivation not working because that was my next attempt.
