Hello and thanks in advance for any help.

I made this website about twelve years ago and it hasn't been updated for about ten years but still was live. I'm now trying to revive the website with no success.

All original files have been restored from backups with no changes.

None of the pages are editable in code view but I found I could do editing in design view which I thought would be okay except when I updated the site on line only the index page works, no links working.

 

The template page is completely editable but not the twenty plus pages associated with it. Although this is a very basic website it did work fine at one time and served our needs.

Nothing has been changed except like I mentioned all files have been restored from my backup source.

at the first glance:

Please change and correct all these entries, starting with file:///. These pathes to your files are pointing to your hard drive, which nobody can see except you. After that please load up your website to your server, so that we could find some other "culprits" if still necessary.

   The site is definitely showing its age.

  • XHTML code is outdated. HTML5 has been the web standard for 10 years.
  • The table-based layouts are outdated. We use CSS for layouts now.
  • As Hans implied,  your local site folder has not been properly defined in DW.  Hence the failed links.
  • The Template.dwt file must reside in the Templates folder at site root level.  Otherwise, Templates won't work.
  • The site is not responsive or mobile-friendly.
  • It's not engaging or interactive and has zero visual appeal. 
  • The code contains validation errors (see link below)

  • Best advice, scrap the old site and build a new one.

Nancy naturally is right with her comment "The site is definitely showing its age." together with her other recommendations. Anyway, in my eyes you should awake your site by correcting these file:/// and bring new life to your "old broad". You will in a first step get something like a sense of achievement. ;-)))
