Upgraded from CS3 to CS5.1 - Why can't I run my older Access/ASP.NET Websites?

Hi,

I have a dreadful feeling that DWCS5.5 does not support ASP.NET and Access databases any more, although I've been using DW for years and have many websites using Access.

When I open an new apsx page in DW (ASP.NET VB Page Type) the Databases tab has the + button greyed out, even though I have a Site, Document Type and have setup a Testing Server. In Bindings the + sign only gives me a Spry Data Set to use - where has the OLE DB gone which I have used previously?

A new page created with ASP VBScript Page Type does give me Custom Connection String (with the Jet OLEDB.4 Provider) or DSN option in the Database type, but I need the ASP.NET page for my Access database.

I'm on a Windows 7 Professional 64bit OS, which has IIS6 installed.

Has this support been dismantled, or does anybody know how I can fix this problem?

I do hope I haven't wasted my money on this upgrade, as there was nothing in the documentation to hint that CS5.5 wouldn't support previous versions.

Dreamweaver unfortunately dropped support for asp.net since cs 4

Although Dreamweaver no longer officially supports ASP.NET, you can install the ASP.NET server behaviors from an extension.

The extension is located at C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Dreamweaver CS5.5\configuration\DisabledFeatures\ASPNet_Support.mxp.

Thanks, David, glad to get some useful pointers. I've installed the extension and can now see the Database, Bindings and Server Behaviours. This has led on to another issue about the Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0 provider is not registered on the local machine, but I'll try to figure that one myself before I come back to this useful forum.

I will be going down the Apache/PHP/MySQL route in the longer term and getting away from ASP.NET/Access but with so much legacy stuff like that it takes time and resource to make such sea-changes quickly. The cost of progress, huh!
