Uploading Edited Dreamweaver Files

Guest

I have inhereted a corporate Web site developed in Dreamweaver and need to make extensive updates. Although I have worked with Front Page and GoLive, I have not previously used Dreamweaver. So far, I have been able to edit pages, but have not yet been able to upload them to our Web host.

I see two immediate problems. Firstly, whenever I select edited pages in the File window, the Put button is never highlighted (nor does Put become active in the toolbar). Secondly, when I select "Manage Sites," the Site window is empty--the corporate Web site is not listed. I have followed instructions from Adobe Help and other sources, but the instructions are identical and nothing addresses this particular problem.

Am I missing a step (such as Save to Remote Server or Validate) or following the wrong procedure? Should I create a name for the Web site through "Manage Sites"--and can I do so without disrupting the existing files and Web pages?

I'll need more practical information on Dreamweaver as I make more changes, but getting to know the basics is my first priority.

Thanks.

you need to define a site, check DW help for this subject an ask about
the remote server data: ftp server name, user, password
