Hi,

I'm looking for a Dreamweaver-friendly web hosting site, one that allows you to use Dreamweaver's FTP utility to upload and download files.

Thanks, Bob Rosenberry,

There's no such thing as "Dreamweaver hosting."

File Transfer method varies by server.  In other words, are you working with a Flathead or Phillips head s c r e w?   That decides which screwdriver to use.

Who is your hosting  provider?

What type of plan do you have?

What S/FTP protocol do they require you to use?  Be specific.

Which version of Dreamweaver do you have?

Can you transfer files with FileZilla?

I have a different translation of your question than what understood @Nancy OShea

so I'm probably wrong.... anyway

are you asking to know which web hosting to choose  ? if that is the case

  1. what is your country ?
  2. are you looking for a free hosting, or a paid one ?
  3. if it's a paid one, what is your budget (Mutual, VPS, Dedicate server ...) ?

Youre doing it all wrong, its far too simple to use FTP. You want to make life much harder for yourself. Get yourself docker and use containers then push the docker image to github and onto your final host or maybe you need a drop from Digital Ocean. Make sure you have a lot of debugging tools installed as well.

Alternatively, use Wappler. See:

Wappler, the only real Dreamweaver alternative.

I don't see why you need to set anything up for a simple website, just ftp it. Thats the way it was always done. There's more problems and setup involved in installing docker, finding a docker host and possible debugging than there will be with a possible few minor incompatibilities with your host and remote server if you use ftp.

I mean if youre working within a team of 20 developers it would be applicable of course or a company with an IT expert. When will docker start charging should be a concern, already last year they bought in a tiered payment for larger companies.

@osgood_

Who said anything about Docker?  Where did that come from?

I was being me..........to think someone in this day and age would even think about FTPing. Thats just crazy it needs to be much more complex than that now............at least thats what Ive been told by Google.

You've lost me.  My dedicated server uses S/FTP with passwords or private key files.

Amazon Web Services uses openSSH with encrypted private key files.

https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AWSEC2/latest/UserGuide/AccessingInstancesLinux.html

IMO, nothing overly complex about either one.

well, I'm not fluent in English, but I think @osgood_ gave us one of his provocative, tongue-in-cheek comments.
if not, it made me laugh anyway...

a bit like declaring a constant results in a polymorphic and reiterative encapsulation of an inert object in a larger scope subject to analytical exposure

Thats plain crazy, surely you're missing the point, web development is NOT about simplicity it's about making the simple complex...... youre obviously not taking it seriously enough.
