webassist software/extentions

Anyone here got the webassist software/extentions?

If so, what do you reckon to it? Does it save you a great deal of time in development? Does it have a great deal of features not offered in DWCS3?

I started looking at it because of the CSS extention on offer at the mo' (CSS structures do my head in), and then noticed the other stuff they have too. There seems to be some nice bits there. Let me know your thoughts on it.

Thanks

Mat.

Very poor support, products way way over marketed with respect in what they
can do. For any css extensions far safer to stick with p7.

Happy Christmas

The problem is that PVII and WA have completely a different product focus.
PVII's products are all targeted at client-side things (menus, slide shows,
etc.) and WA's products are all targeted at server-side things (data access,
content management, shopping carts, etc.). There is really very little
overlap EXCEPT with the CSS layout product.

I use WA's products extensively, and while I'll admit up front that their
support is NOWHERE near comparable to PVII's, I find the products to be
functional and quite useful.

This, of course, is my personal opinion....

Mixed reviews. Very poor support unless you are willing to pay.
Even then, expect to wait 24 hours. As far as the CSS Sculptor,
I have it along with the PVII CSS Layout Magic.
http://www.projectseven.com/products/templates/pagepacks/cssmagic/index.htm

I prefer PVII's since there are less screens to go through, the support is
fantasic, the documentation is easy to follow and the quality is beyond
reproach.
That said, I don't think CSS Sculptor is a "bad" product and it does do what
it advertises.

I think WA suffer from the same marketing problems that Adobe have, they
make the products sound like someone with no experience what so ever can
use them. This just isn't so in my experience, you need to have an
understanding of what the extension is trying to do for you.

I have the Super Suite and find it very useful, but the documentation
isn't that great, but there support is excellent, just the support forum
isn't as good.

You get free support and if its a bug with the product they refund it.
The user to user support forum isn't great, but the support incidents
are fantastic, they even call you and do remote desktop to help, they go
above and beyond if you ask me.

So, do webassist's extentions need a lot of tech support then?

And with both WA's and PVII's CSS extentions, do IE fixes get created automatically, or do you have to hand code them? This is my major downfall, and I quite often find myself reverting to a table just keep the structure and to save time and frustration during development.

One last thing... (tut) WA mentions its extentions work well with ASP and PHP, but it brushes over how well it works with ColdFusion - CF is something I would like to eventually get in to. Do the WA extentions work the same way with CF as they do with ASP and PHP?

Thanks for your thoughts so far.

Unless WA has recently changed their policies you do NOT get
"free" support. You get XX number of support incidents - and yes,
each one of mine turned out to be bugs but I was left having to ask
for those support incidents back.

Yes, they do remote PC connection but IMHO that's not all that
helpful IF it were a mistake you actually made versus buggy software.
This is because I learn much more by doing than by someone flashing
through screens so fast that I can't possibly follow.

Their CF support (which is also what I use) is the poorest. Also be aware
that
they do NOT support CF with MySQL so even if the tutorials were well written
(which they are only if you want to do exactly what they are demonstrating)
the tutorials do not cover CF with MySQL and therefore if that's your
platform,
your SOL.
