What is the secret to uploading a folder to my server?

I've tried numerous times to upload a folder from CC Dreamweaver to my host server, the same as I've always done from the beginnings of Dreamweaver. It doesn't work. Nothing shows up on the host server. The site manager connects with the remote server just fine. ???

By the way, I decided to scrap CC and go back to CS6. Big surprise. Adobe wanted to end my subscription at the end of this month BUT charge me the full shot for the subscription anyway. The NY AG is going to hear about this! I wonder what the grandfathers who actually conceived and wrote Adobe software that worked think about the grandkids, eyes full of dollar signs, who've pre-empted it & screwed it all up.

That's an indication that your site definition is not correct.   Most likely a missing root directory which varies by hosting plan.   If unsure what that should be,  contact your web host.   See screenshot.

I'm not certain which comment you wish us to reply to.

With the ftp problem, I would say that you should check the site definition, as it is possible the folder path to the server is incorrect, and this does happen sometimes.

With regards to the cancelling of the subscription, yes Adobe does charge 60% of the remaining fee, if you cancel, and this is in the terms and conditions. I think it is excessive, and probably so does everyone else. That's the terms they have though, and there is nothing anyone can do except complain.

As for the 'old people' who used to think Dw was worth it. Many would agree that Dw 2017 is not even worth comparing to CS6, as it has become a toy web development environment. I'm in two minds about that though, as Dw 2017 is at least an attempt to get back on track to being a web development tool, (not an IDE) even though it has failed in doing so for many. Only the next release will I think decide for many users if Dw CC is worth giving another chance, or deleting from the computer forever.

Thank you for engaging with my rant. At least I have the satisfaction of feeling that my expectations aren't unreasonable! I trashed it. My new philosophy is to go without anything I can't do in a text editor.

Hi Nancy,

That's a beautiful diagram.

I type out my whole domain/public_html for the root directory. Maybe it could have made a difference to just use the last part (/public_html), but I will never know. Dreamweaver 2017 CC went out in the trash early this morning. 8-) Amen.
