In the old version of Dreamweaver (Creative Suite 5), in the upper right-hand corner of an open web page it would tell you which template was being used. I can’t find anything similar to this in Creative Cloud.
How do I determine which template is attached to an html file in the Dreamweaver CC interface?
With child page open, look at the 2nd line of your code.
<!-- InstanceBegin template="/Templates/mainTemplate.dwt" codeOutsideHTMLIsLocked="false" -->
Or go to Tools > Templates > Open Attached Template.

Thank you.
My page did not have that information, but I experimented and found that I did not create the htm page correctly using the new > create option. I suspect that this will fix the problem I had with saving the pages that were incorrectly created.
