I have multiple sites set up in Dreamweaver and have clicked the box to Associate a Git Repository with this site for each of them. I can stage, commit and even push files for all of the sites but one. I have tried deleting that site from Dreamweaver and setting it up again, but to no avail. Can someone please help me figure out why this is the only one that will not work?

In Explorer (Windows, not sure about Mac) open the root directory and delete the hidden file called .git and delete it. This will remove the current Git session so that you can start again.

Are any of the files or folders in your problem site cloaked with a red slash?

We do not enough information to help you at this stage. The problem(s) could arise from Site Setup through to local machine permissions.

If I were in your situation, I would start with comparing the details of a goodie with a baddie.

Hi BenPleysier,

I have compared and everything seems to be set up the same. I tried to use the git terminal to do "git add index.php" to see if it would work and I got the following error.

fatal: Unable to create 'C:/Users/momma/OneDrive/Fox/Fox Website/.git/index.lock': File exists.

Another git process seems to be running in this repository, e.g.

an editor opened by 'git commit'. Please make sure all processes

are terminated then try again. If it still fails, a git process

may have crashed in this repository earlier:

remove the file manually to continue.

I am not sure how to deal with this though.

I think deleting the .git repository is a bit over the top especially if your hosting a large website. Another post mentioned just deleting the index.lock file. Worked fine for me.
