It's been a while since I did development work but now that I have the latest version of Dreamweaver I'd like to set up my Windows 10 machine to do some development. What I'd like to do is run a localhost but I want to be using content (database entries, images etc) from my live website. I've forgotten how to do this. I seem to remember running Lamp (or was that when I was on Ubuntu? What's the Windows equivalent?) - do I need to do this still? I seem to remember having to do a local install of Wordpress and then locally download all the plugins too. Do I still need to do this? And ultimately, when I'm happy with the local dev, it would be nice to push it live via ftp, but I can worry about that later.
I have tried searching for this but because I can't remember the correct terminology to do what I'm trying to achieve, I'm not getting the right search results.
Any quick pointers to the correct how-to would be appreciated, and apologies for being a bit dumb. It's been a while!
You need a local testing server. Either WAMP or XAMPP will work on Windows10.
