Hello,

I would like to check for invalid links to external web sites in my Dreamweaver site.

Unfortunately, the Site -  Site Options - Check Links Sitewide does not check external sites. It just lists all the external sites.

It sure would be nice to have some way of checking for broken external links. Do you recommend any of these third-party link checkers?

LinkChecker

Xenu

W3C Link Checker

Thank you

I have Xenu's Link Sleuth.  It does a lot with a surprisingly small footprint -- link checking, XML sitemaps and more.

Here's another option, Screaming Frog: Broken Link Checker - Find Broken Links (404s) | Screaming Frog

It's more of a fully fledged SEO tool, if you just want to check links, it'll probably be easier to use Nanc'y suggestion Xenu's Link Sleuth, which is a great little tool.
