Do I need to save each time when working on a WordPress site with PHP to see changes or does it update in real-time like HTML files? I'm confused

Short answer: no.

Long answer: Real-Time Preview doesn't play nice with Local Testing Servers.  It's a bad combination.  You're better off using old fashioned Preview in Browser without any interference from Adobe's servers.

I do NOT use Real-Time Preview because it doesn't play nice with my local testing server.  And I must have a local testing server to parse PHP files.

Save your document (Ctrl+S) and upload to your local testing server.

Use Right-Click > Open in browser.

Refresh browser with F5 or Ctrl+R.

Like I said above, Ctrl+S to SAVE.

Upload to your local testing server to parse PHP files.

Right-Click and open in browser.

Use F5 or Ctrl+R to refresh browser if needed.

I know how to save and stuff I'm trying to figure out real-time preview only works with HTML files or if there is a way to it on my testing server with PHP files
