I have an old website that I built using Dreamweaver. I no longer have a useful version of Dreamweaver. Does Adobe still have the software called Contribute? If so, can I purchase a copy to use to make changes in the website without purchasing the whole Dreamweaver program or whatever you call it now?

Hi Phil,

what concerns "Contribute", please have a look there:

https://www.adobe.com/support/contribute/downloads.html

there see Downloads >>> The following types of Contribute downloads are available on this page.
and see "IMPORTANT".

On the other hand - it depends how long you need DW, you could use a test version:

Contribute has not been around in quite some time, and I imagine your copy of DW is probably from around the same time period.  The short answer is that all the sites produce is code.  While the UX-based functionality of the Contribute/DW setup may no longer work, your site is not locked so you can still edit code if needed.  So even if you no longer wanted to maintain your code or invest in the software, any web developer should be able to make some updates in the code of your site.

Alternatively, as out of date as that combination is, the code produced is probably in need of an update and given the state of SEO, a better alternative may be looking to move your site to a more modern, or mobile-friendly CMS structure to serve up your site.

No.  Contribute is discontinued, outdated and no longer sold or supported.  Even if you find a copy, it's unlikely to work because Adobe stopped developing Contribute a long time ago.

If you can work with code, download free Adobe Brackets or Microsoft's Visual Studio Code. Use Filezilla or Cute FTP client to transfer files to server.  Keep in mind, old sites don't do well on the modern web because too many things have changed. It might be best to start over fresh with modern tools and modern code.

Be careful not to confuse the relationship between Dreamweaver and Contribute.
Contribute is not a light version of Dreamweaver, it is a form of extension that simulates the use of a back office. The developer used Dreamweaver to create 'contribute' spaces that could be accessed and modified from a simple browser by authorized users.
But Contribute as such could not intervene otherwise on the site.
Was the site you are referring was developed with Dreamweaver using the Contribute extension?
