I am using a font called Edwardian Script on my website. The font currently only works on a computer where the script is already available. How do I get it to work on everyone's computer regardless of whether they have the font or not?

Search for Google Fonts, its a website. Edwardian Script is available.

The fonts are free, its just a simple matter of linking them to your website using a line of code, read the instructions.

ITC Edwardian Script is not an open source web font and thus not available on either Google Fonts or Typekit.

If you need to embed a script on your site, look for something close that has a license that extends to the web.

And be sure to combine it with similar websafe fonts like Brush Script MT and cursive.

h1 {

font-family:'YOUR SCRIPT FONT', 'Brush Script MT', cursive;

font-size: 15px;

font-style: oblique;

font-weight: 400;

line-height: 23px;

}

I didnt see it was not classified as open source, thanks for clearing that up. I blame this stupid smartphone, nightmare to research anything with., slow, screen too small, yuk.

Fortunately l'll be home in about 30mins when l can sprinkle myself with some bigger real estate to work with.

WTF does anyone do with a smartphone on the internet beside send porn images to one another?

I got a fitbit activity tracker for Christmas which is supposed to sync results to smartphones.

Unfortunately, I can't get it to work with my Android, or my iPad or my Win10 computer .   A nice idea but very frustrating.

Personally, I want a phone to be a phone. I employ my Android smartphone 95% of the time for calls and texts and 5% of the time for taking photos, using the calculator app, checking subway service, and maybe (stress on "maybe") seeing what is available via the Today's Tix app.

And I want a computer to be a computer, the best tool for graphic development, word processing, spreadsheets, web browsing, blog reading, and the occasional game of Solitaire.

Happy New Year, to one and all.

The fitbit developers must have sent out a program fix because it's working now .

My phone is impractical for internet.  I use it with a few mobile apps though.

Happy New Year everyone!

Happy New Year everyone!

I think I only use mine for the odd email here and there when I'm out the office and maybe getting the football results. For anything else, other than making and taking calls its excess to my requirements. I try to make sure the websites I produce work reasonably ok on them too, but really they are just joke junk when it comes to doing any real web research, over and above an emergency solution.

Happy New Year to you too and anyone else that might be tuned in!

Thing is, there's no growth for the smartphone market in limiting features.

iPhone cameras these days rival most compact cameras in performance, so the compact camera market has died. Same goes for other smartphone features. The extra functions are no longer gimmicks, they are serious tools in my pocket.

I welcome the extended capabilities of smartphones. Means I can carry a single device in my pocket and have so many features available at any time.

Interesting perspective. I find I do just as much serious research on my iPhone as I do at home on my multi-monitor laptop setup.

When I'm out and about, ideas get triggered by conversations or things I see and hear. I can do some very useful in-depth research on my smartphone right there wherever I happen to be.

Its difficult to determine exactly who or what smartphones are used for in terms of internet research. All l know is if l want to book a holiday where l need time to determine which destination and which company to go with l personally prefer to use a desktop or failing that a tablet. That could be said for anything l purchase or research.

However if lm out and about and am unlikely to make it home l might use a smartphone to check for the nearest available accommodation or if lm sitting on my own in a cafe/pub l might engage in some light research like checking last nights football results but a smartphone for the internet is  something l would consider using  last if l had access to desktop or tablet.

is as OS or Nancy indicate you, you can't use it from a public devlivery system... and if you have the right to use Edwardian font, you can also generate your own subset of font...

Create Your Own @font-face Kits » Font Squirrel

think to use the expert mode to acceed to all the settings... then download the package, everything will be inside the archive

That's true.   Make certain your font license extends to the web. Many fonts do not and that's why they cannot be found on Google or Typekit web fonts.

All fonts are protected by intellectual property laws the same as software.  So while your font might be OK to use in print and graphics,  if your license doesn't permit you to repackage & re-distribute the font, it's not suitable for the web.   Find another font.
