When editing my html in Dreamweaver CC 2017.5, recently I have been having trouble with 'Find' and 'Replace'. I add in the search requirements and then put in the replacement text, once I hit enter the software shuts down. No warning, no error, nothing, just completely shuts down. I need to find a fix for this as I have many sites with 10s to 100s of pages that sometime require the same text to be updated. I do not want to have to go to every page and fix all the changes. Please help!!!
I doubt it's a true "bug" in the software version, if it were, the forum would be flooded with "F&R crashes Dreamweaver" posts.

Here are a couple things to try:

Restore Preferences CC Versions - https://helpx.adobe.com/dreamweaver/kb/restore-preferences-dreamweaver.html

Have you checked your page(s) for errors?
Dw, especially 2017 appears to be very susceptible to code errors, and any errors can cause unexpected problems with the program.

Yes. Some of the pages I have been working on and changing the code have errors. That is why I was running the find and replace. Seems counter productive if I'm unable to use find and replace to fix the errors.
I thank you for your response. It had really been driving me crazy.

I'm only guessing now, but the impression I have of who the typical Dw user is now thought to be, is someone creating very small sites, (5-10 pages) which contains very little custom code or someone who just uses bootstrap, and only adds content and a little of their own css.
Once one is creating or maintaining larger sites, or using anything that a casual beginner would not use, such as a more complexed workflow, it starts having problems that do not match its previous user bases requirements.
You could try opening a few files at a time, and limiting your find/replace just to open files. Then increasing the number of open files gradually, or limiting it to just one folder.

Dw now has Git capability and with that comes expansive files. It should not limit the use to only files without errors, that is almost impossible especially if you have a large team working vast applications and web sites. This is a feature that needs to be fixed with the next release.
Would you happen to know who to contact within Adobe to have them look into this?
Anyway, until this feature is fixed, I will be using other authoring software to fix code errors. Not happy!!
Thanks for your help.

There is a feature request / bug report feature under the Dw 'Help' menu.
You could also join the Dw pre-release, and see if the bug is still in the next version, that way you would be able to file a feature/bug report, and discuss the problem with CAB/pre-release members.
You can join the pre-release at -

Clearing the program cache and restoring preferences will usually clear up odd issues like this.

Jon,
Thank you so much! Clearing the cache worked! I will bookmark these if I ever run into this problem again.
Greatly appreciated!
