AAMEE 2.1 download contains AAMEE3.1 instead, please fix!

I am a SysAdmin at a private school. I need to deploy InDesign CS5.5 to some lab computers. AAMEE 2.1 says it can make packages, so I go download the file from here: http://download.macromedia.com/pub/developer/creativesuite/AAMEE/win/ApplicationManagerEnterprise_2_...

Once launched it asks where to extract the files and I do so to c:\temp\AAMEE21

When it launches AAMEE, I see it says version 3.1.x.x at the bottom left corner. I attempt to make an InDesign CS5.5 package, but the utility complains that it cannot find a suitable version.

Adobe -- Fix your download! Version 2.1 is broken because it contains version 3.1 - this will not work with CS5/5.5 installers.

Unfortunately InDesign 5.5 is no longer supported as it is older software. This means we will not be producing updates for it.

AAMEE has been replaced with Creative Cloud Packager. However InDesign CS6 is currently the oldest version that can be packaged with this tool.

My advice would be to upgrade.

AAMEE3.1 = CS6

AAMEE2.1 = CS5/5.5

I don't know if you understand the issue found. Your AAMEE2.1 download is labeled 2.1 BUT contains AAMEE3.1. Of Course AAMEE3.1 won't support CS5.x. THe point I'm trying to get across is that your AAMEE2.1 download contains the wrong version (3.1) in the installer package. This is misleading to those IT admins trying to deploy CS5.x because CS6 is not an option. THanks for the advice to upgrade, but that isn't the solution here.

Who's next to help me tell Adobe about their broken download?

AAMEE2_1.PNG

This is the Version 2.1 AAMEE package - notice it says version 3.1.108.0

AAMEE3_1.PNG

This is the Version 3.1 AAMEE package - also states version 3.1.108.0

2.1 contains the WRONG version of AAMEE. Whoever packaged up version 2.1 got it WRONG.

I think you previously had AAMEE 3.x installed on this machine.

See the note at Can you install AAMEE 2.1 and 3.0 on the same system?

I'm sorry, that response isn't helpful at all. I've REMOVED BOTH versions from my computer, and AAMEE2.1 will STILL result in v3.1. Try it for yourself before you suggest anymore "solutions".

I installed this on a completely clean system. Maybe there is another system you can use or a VM?
