Anyone Know Where to Find Old Adobe Apps? the Admin Console is a PAIN。

Hello everyone,

I am currently encountering some challenges in deploying Adobe applications and am hoping the community can provide some guidance.

My main problem is finding older versions of Adobe applications. I have already tried browsing ftp.adobe.com (which appears to be updated only up to CC2014) and https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/ReleaseNotesDC/index.html (releasing Acrobat Enterprise), but I have been unable to find information regarding other older Creative Cloud applications.

The Adobe Admin Console is very inconvenient. The administrator's control over package definitions is very limited. Specifically, the packaged applications do not allow users to choose the installation location during the installation process. The software and hardware requirements during installation are also very demanding.

Allowing users to install applications via Adobe Creative Cloud is not a good solution either, because the customization options available to the end user are very limited.

I feel very frustrated because these installation problems are adding a very large workload to my work. I have not yet found an effective method to resolve this problem. Any help, suggestions, or guidance would be greatly appreciated!

Hi @elegant_determination9775,

Thank you for reaching out. Based on your query, you are experiencing difficulties locating older versions of Adobe applications and finding the necessary customization options within the Admin Console to meet your deployment needs.

In this scenario, I recommend creating a managed or customized pre-generated package of the required older Adobe applications and deploying them using third-party tools or command-line installation. This approach will allow greater flexibility, including the ability to specify the installation location and apply other necessary customizations.

For more information on deploying packages, please refer to the following documentation:

If you require more control over application installation and updates, you can create a managed package and configure the following options:

  • Enable self-service installation, allowing users to install and update applications from the Creative Cloud desktop app

  • Allow non-admin users to install and update applications

  • Disable auto-updates to prevent end users from automatically updating applications

For managing updates within your organization, you can utilize RUM (Remote Update Manager) or AUUST (Adobe Update Server Setup Tool). More details can be found in the Update Overview documentation.

Additionally, you can check Adobe’s archive of older application versions at this link and follow the provided instructions to download and install the required versions.

Could you also specify the customizations you are looking for so we can provide more precise guidance?

Hope this helps. Let us know if you need further assistance.

Regards,
^AN
