Correct Update Path

As always, I'm confused by the upgrade path (not sure why this has to be so hard).

So my prior set up was reader 11.0.00 -> patch to 11.0.01 -> patch to 11.0.02, which worked fine.

Now going to 11.0.03, I saw this:

  • Acceptable: 11.0.0 > 11.0.03 (Q)

Reader pattern formula: Last MSI + latest quarterly + latest out of cycle patch)

  • Acceptable: 11.0.0 > 11.0.01 (Q) > 11.0.02 (OOC)
  • Acceptable: 11.0.0 > 11.0.03 (Q)

So - I cannot patch 11.0.02 to 11.0.03?  I tried it and it seems to work okay but I don't want it to bite me down the road.  It doesn't make sense to me that you can't patch from the prior to the current.  Would appreciate comments so I know I'm doing it right.

Also, I'm assuming now I can just take out the two middle patches and go straight from 11 to 11.0.03.  I tested that and it seems so, as indicated by the path listed above.  My main question though lies with all my systems that are already on 11.0.02.

You can do what you did as well as what you'd like to do.

Quarterlies are cumulative and OOC patches are not. So to turn the rules above on their head: what you can't do is install OOC patches over an install in which intermediate updates/patches have been skipped.

Installing in order is always allowed, and just intalling the latest Q is always allowed.

Ah I think I see.  So I couldn't do 11.0.02 over 11.0.0 for instance? But I can install 11.0.02 over 11.0.01 and I can also install 11.0.03 over 11.0.00, .01 or .02, correct (since it is quarterly).

Thank you!  I think I understand a bit better now.
