Creating and deploying Creative Cloud macOS package for Intune

Hi,

I have issue with deploying CC package for mac in Intune.

I create (succesfully) the package in the Adobe Admin Console.

I tried then to upload the package (pkg) in Intune via Windows 11, but Windows shows the pkg as folder, instead of a file.

I then tried to upload the package in Intune via macOS, but I get an error right after selecting the package:

I contacted the Help chat but they were useless.

Any help would be very appreciated.

Thanks

Hi @defaultmj3r4r2u36vf

MS Intune is currently not supported on the MAC platform. You can only deploy the packages on a windows machine by following the KB below

Hello,

may I update you that Intune is able to deploy .pkg directly into macOS.

with recent updates now they made even automatic the bundle and version discover so basically it became drag and drop.

I'm acutally deploying apps like Chrome, Firefox, Company Portal (Microsoft), printer drivers (and then I've scripted to add X printers after the driver installation) and potentially I can add any .pkg
The problem tho seems like the pkg is not signed correctly or others, basically not recognized from Intune and I were unable to proceed with deployement.

I've tried to ask to support via Business contacts but they just told me they're working on it and to push the request o technicians will keep alive this request.

Please consider to push thi request so we can start using Intune and Adobe with full potential, thanks!

this means that if you upload a pkg into Intune for deploy Intune itself finds out BundleIDs and BundleVersions.

but when I try to upload an Adobe pkg it doesn't work and gives me and unkown error

TBH, saying "it doesn't work, here's a kb for a platform you haven't asked for" is a weird way of "solving" requests 😉

I'm currently facing the problem of deploying the macOS version of the CC desktop app on out Intune managed Macs. Using a script is a possibe, but rather complicated and unstable way.. it would be superb if Adobe could fix the problem on their side and provide an Intune-compatible installer. Thanks a lot! 🙂

Bump!

Adobe, your KB is so outdated it's not even funny!! Good thing your tools and portals are also dated from back then so nothing stands out!

Do you know how many things have changed just in Intune app management since June 2022??

Please give us something we can use or at least some form of official statement we can present to management! As of writing this the online package generator is useless for people like me and the others in this thread that would like to publish Adobe CC in the Intune Company Portal for example.

Create flat packages (adobe.com)

So with the implementation of flat packages most of these issues have been resolved. When creating the app package in the admin console select "create flat package" It works for both named user and shared device apps. There is an issue though it doesn't work for all apps. The following apps upload fine to intune:

  • Acrobat DC
  • Audition
  • Bridge
  • Dreamweaver
  • Illustrator
  • InCopy
  • InDesign
  • Lightroom
  • Lightroom Classic
  • Media Encoder

If you find some apps not installing on the newer Silicon macs you may have to push a script to install Rosetta 2. Even  if you are

The following apps I have not been able to upload this way. I get this error code: "The selected app package does not appear to have either a ProductCode or ProductVersion."

  • After Effects
  • Photoshop
  • Premiere Pro

I don't know if there are any other apps that have these issues as these are the only ones I have tested. I have also tried combining one of the three above with one that I do know works when creating the package but I still get the same error message. I come back and test it every so often in case this issue has been fixed on Adobe's side but it's still an ongoing issue. Those three still have to use scripts to be installed. shell-intune-samples/macOS at master · microsoft/shell-intune-samples · GitHub

Sorry let that sentence trail off

Even if you are using universal packages you will still need Rosetta 2 make the install work on silicon macs.

Unfortunately, we still do not support Mac Flat Package deployment via Intunes. Only Windows packages are supported currently.
We have already raised the same concerns with Microsoft for Mac packages but have not received an appropriate answer. We will keep you updated on the progress.
